Overview

For DP2, we created a hip implant that alleviates the patient’s left leg’s muscle and bone degeneration caused by a long-term polio infection. The hip implant should reduce any hip pain, while protecting surrounding tissue to improve quality of life.

Patient Profile

<aside> 🩺 Our patient has polio, contributing to severe bone degeneration in her left leg, which is 4 cm shorter than the right leg. She also has asymmetric hip joints, a cracked left femur and the left femur head is not placed in the acetabulum.

Final Deliverables

Computing Sub-Team

A radiograph of the pelvic region (frontal view). Left hip joint appears abnormal and there is bone loss in the left femur.
